The Run 1920

Run 1920 - XXIX Half Marathon "Miracle on the Vistula" this year virtually

This year's Run 1920 - XXIX Half Marathon "Miracle on the Vistula" will take place in the form of a virtual race due to the epidemic. We encourage the players to this safe form of sports celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw. The distance of 21.1 km can be run on any route and should be documented with a file in GPX format from popular running applications. The file must be registered between 15-17.08.2020. The results of the race will be published on-line. Shipments with commemorative medals and attractive starter packages await participants.

The organizers decided to take the form of a virtual race in order to maintain safety, social distance and comply with the regulations in force during the pandemic.

To participate in this year's 1920 Run, you must register at www.online.datasport.pl by July 31, 2020 and pay the entry fee of PLN 50 (seniors and competitors with disabilities are exempt from the fee). Then, on August 15-17, run the distance of Run 1920, i.e. 21.1 km in the field, using any route. We encourage you to start at 9:00 am on August 15. Running distance should be documented with a GPX file, generated from any popular application such as Endomondo, Garmin, Strava, Suunto, Polar, etc. The results should be sent to the website www.datasport.pl by August 17, 2020 by 23:59.

Just like in a traditional run, the results will be posted on the website - as runners upload. For all participants of the run, the organizers have prepared medals, prepared on the basis of interwar graphics, and starter packages, which include: a t-shirt, a mug, a work backpack and occasional souvenirs. The winners in each category will also receive cups and souvenir gifts.

 

We invite all runners who signed up for the 1920 Run before the coronavirus epidemic and counted on participation in a traditional, mass sports event, to stay with us and take part in the virtual run - we will cheer you as much as every year, but remotely. In this way, we will manifest the memory of the victory of 1920 and modern patriotism.

In the event of resignation from participation in the 1920 Run, you can get a refund of the starting fee or transfer it to the next year, to the 30th jubilee edition of the 1920 Run. The first run devoted to the Polish Heroes fighting against the Bolsheviks in 1920 was organized on August 15, 1992 on the route Radzymin - Ossów. The start of the run took place at the Cemetery of Polish Soldiers in 1920. The route of the run ran through Ciemne, Czarna, Wołomin, Majdan and to Ossów, where there was a finish line at the chapel. The run was then 18 km long. Only 12 competitors took part in it. The organizers of the run were Konrad Rytel, the then manager of the Wołomin Region, and Mirosław Jusiński, then the director of the Municipal and Communal Cultural Center in Radzymin, who is the director of the run to this day. In 1993, the second run was named: the National Run "Miracle on the Vistula". The route was extended to 20 km by the Majdan section until the turning point on the bridge into the bridge.

Since 2001, the route has been extended to a classic half-marathon, 21097.5 m.
The route has also been changed to include the Maidan section to the turning point in Cięciwa and the name of the National Run for the International Street Half Marathon "Miracle on the Vistula".

The level of the event is demonstrated by the participation of leading players from Poland, but also foreign players from Belarus, Ukraine and even Kenya.

The first winner of the race in 1922 was Jacek Gardener from Warsaw.

The three-time winner of the half marathon was a competitor from Belarus, Vladimir Tiamczyk - 2000. , 2001 and 2002.

They won this race twice:

Karol Dołęga from Oleśnica - 1997 , 1998
    Abel Kirui from Keni - 2006. , 2007 - with a time of 1:04:15 until August 15, 2017. record holder of the route (2006) A new record was set by his compatriot MWANGI Joel Maina during the 26th run with a time of 1:03:54.
    Iveruk Mykhaylo from Ukraine - 2009. , 2010

When Abel Kirui won the World Marathon Championship in Berlin in 2009, the local newspapers already announced in the title that the Radzymin half-marathon was the birthplace of the World Cup. In 2011. The Kenyan defended his Marathon World Championship title at the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea. Silver medalist at the Olympic Games in London (2012). Due to an injury, he did not take part in the World Cup in Moscow (2013).

When it comes to attendance, it was the highest in 2009. Over 700 competitors took part, 583 were classified. The rest did not manage to overcome the 2.5 hour limit. The following year the time limit was extended to 3 hours.

The only competitor from the Wołomin County who ran all the "Miracle on the Vistula" races is Eugeniusz Dembiński from Wołomin, a three-time Polish Champion in his age category for 5 km, 10 km and half-marathons.
The second competitor who participated in all the races is Jan Skakluk from Legionowo
