On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Wolomin District, the Niepodległa Program, the WEST Association, the Roman Catholic Parish of St. Joseph the Worker in Wolomin and the vocal and acting group "Sonanto", we would like to cordially invite you to the event entitled.
"In Defense of Independence - a concert of legion and lancer songs on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Warsaw". The concert, performed by actors, singers and musicians of the "Sonanto" vocal-acting ensemble, will take place at the St. Joseph the Worker Church in Wolomin on Friday, August 12, beginning at 7:00 pm (after the 6:00 pm Mass). Admission to the event is free although the number of participants in the event may be limited in case of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The vocal and acting ensemble "Sonanto" is a group of vocalists and singing actors, performing alongside instrumentalists. The formation was established in Warsaw, Poland, in 2012. - and this year celebrates its 10th anniversary.The group's domain is precisely the programs of concerts of anniversary and historical character - "Sonanto" presents them in Warsaw, all over Poland, as well as abroad. The band's first album - titled "Od Legionów do wolnej Polski - muzyczna opowieść" (From Legions to a Free Poland - a Musical Story), available both from online distributors and traditionally after each concert, was also dedicated to this topic. Selected songs from this album will be heard by the audience in Wolomin.
The program of the concert of legion and lancer songs will refer both to the Polish struggle for independence and the borders of the reborn Polish state, moving on to the main theme - the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-1921 and its key clash, the Battle of Warsaw. The repertoire will include a number of songs and soldier's songs, also written in the Interwar Period. In the program, in addition to lively and humorous soldier and lancer songs and songs, the audience will also find lyrical and reflective songs dedicated to the events of those years. The vocal-actor arrangements will include songs by poets of the soldiers of that time - such as Boleslaw Wieniawa-Dlugoszowski (beloved adjutant of Marshal Pilsudski), Krzysztof Deszczynski,Wladyslaw Jeziorski, Jozef Relidzinski, Jozef Mączka, or Eugeniusz Malaczewski, as well as contemporary artists - Jacek Cygan, Wojciech Kejne, Krzesimir Debski, or Wlodzimierz Korcz. The concert will be enriched by the narration of an announcer, which will be an interesting history lesson. We strongly encourage you to watch the film trailer of the concert.
