An account of the concert "In Defense of Inde

Wolomin

"In Defense of Independence - a concert of legion and lancer songs on the occasion of the 102nd anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Warsaw". - is the first of this year's events of the WEST Association, and at the same time the first undertaking of this organization in the Wołomin district in general.

The concert of legion and lancer songs took place in Wołomin's St. Joseph the Worker Parish Church, on Friday, August 12. It was therefore the first concert on this theme during this year's celebration of the victory in the Battle of Warsaw in the Wołomin district.

The event was preceded by a promotional campaign, carried out throughout Wołomin County. Media partners of the event were the Sunday Guest, Życie powiatu na Mazowszu, Wieści Podwarszawskie, Kurier W, Moja Gazeta Regionalna, wwl24 portal and Radio Fama. Local entities - such as the "Gwarek" Housing Cooperative and the Housing Cooperative in Wolomin - also joined the campaign. 

The concert was presented by the Warsaw vocal and acting ensemble "Sonanto", composed of: Aleksandra Matryba, Katarzyna Andruszko, Dominik Bobryk, Dominik Rybiałek (soloists), Kornelia Figielska (first violin), Filip Szymaniak (second violin), Justyna Górska (on viola), Adam Misiak (on cello), Maciej Baraniak (on double bass), and Czesław Matryba (on percussion instruments). The concert on behalf of the organizer, the WEST Association, was conducted by Pawel Krasowski.  The event was honored with the presence of, among others, the Starost of Wolomin County Adam Lubiak, Chairman of the Commission for National Heritage, Culture and Cooperation with JST Robert Roguski, and Head of the Department of Culture and Education of the Starost's Office Hanna Skrzypczak. Representatives of neighboring towns and municipalities were also present - the event was attended by, among others, Chairman of the Municipality of Kobylka Konrad Kostrzewa, Chairman of the Municipality of Dabrowka Sławomir Rosa, as well as Wolomin City Councilors Andrzej Fuśnik, Bogdan Sawicki, Kazimierz Tarapata, Robert Kobus and Zbigniew Paziewski. 

In the hospitable walls of the Church of St. Joseph the Worker in Wolomin, both well-known and less popular legion and lancer songs resounded. The script of the concert was a musical story that emphasized, among other things, the symbolic rebirth of the Polish Army, the regaining of independence, the dramatic struggle against the Bolsheviks in the Polish-Bolshevik War of 1919-1921 and, of course, the Battle of Warsaw itself.  The program included "How to kiss a lancer", "Rota Pilsudczycy", "Szwoleżers", "Hey girl, hey heaven" by Marian Hemar, and many, many others. The audience seemed to have the best time with the song "Cud nad Wisłą - czyli polska młócka", especially repeating with the actors and singers from "Sonanto" the refrain: "...on to the work, not yet perished, peace with the Soviets Spisz with bayonets!". There was also the famous cavalry cranks, ending with the audience with the characteristic refrain "Lance to battle, sabers in hand, Bolshevik go, go, go!".
